Brad and I took our engagement pictures in early October in the French Quarter in NOLA. Collin Richie was the photographer and he is absolutely AMAZING!!! His work is so beautiful and captures the spirit of the moment wonderfully. You can check them out on his website. I am so excited to have him as our photographer on our wedding day!!! Thank you Collin for giving me such beautiful photographs to treasure forever!!!

OBSESSED!

OK, so apparently I have a problem... I'm obsessed with "Black & White!" I never even realized it until I went shopping with my Mom the other day and after picking up several items and exclaiming "Oooh! Pretty!" my Mom turned to me and said "Shannon, do you realize almost everything you've looked at today was Black & White?"   *LIGHTBULB! BING!*  I was like, "Wow, you're right!" (Isn't it amazing sometimes how we never really realize something about ourselves until someone else points them out to us? Well, it amazes me anyway.) Upon returning home I looked at my wardrobe and noticed a majority of my clothes were black, white, or a combination of the two (although a lot of that is because our "uniform" at work is all black, all the time)... my two favorite L.A.M.B. handbags are black & white, my favorite dress is a long black & white zebra print, the pair of shoes I seem to always reach for are a black & white snakeskin... it goes on, and on, and on.

I then began looking at the files on my computer where I save the pictures I find on the internet and guess what... Black & White all over!!! For instance...

And almost every one features a zebra print rug (another obsession???) or black & white stripes of some kind. I wonder why I'm so attracted to black & white? Is it the simplicity of it? The chicness and glamor? The drama? Hmmm... I'm not sure all I know is I love it! And now that I know this I'm off to buy the Black & White striped rug tiles from FLOR I've had my eye on for months now...  ;)

Bridal Shower Inspiration

First of all, I'm ENGAGED!!!! Yay!!! I'm so excited!!! And then I remember that planning a wedding takes ALOT of work! Not so exciting. Good thing I have great friends and a wonderful Momma who are helping TONS!!! Anyway, the other day my future sister-in-law, Kimberly, my Mom and I were talking about the Bridal Shower, where, when, yada yada yada. We decided that it would be super cute to have a "Mad Hatter's Tea Party" themed bridal shower! I know, I know, not that original... but soooooo cute! And since I'm kinda crazy and VERY girly the theme is fitting. We decided that everyone MUST have a hat to enter, the crazier the better - no posh Derby hats here! BOR-RING! Since it is a tea party we will serve different kinds of "tea"- "Sweet Tea" (a southern staple), "Long Island Iced Tea" (because its not a party in southern Louisiana unless there is alcohol served), and "Firefly" (a pre-mixed alcoholic beverage consisting of tea and vodka). I found alot of great inspiration on the internet for a "Mad Hatter's Tea Party" or an "Alice in Wonderland" themed party. Enjoy!

P.S.  Please forgive me, I got so excited about the photos I forgot to write down where they came from when I downloaded them. If you have any info regarding where the above photos came from please let me know! Thanks!

2010 Color of the Year

Pantone just announced the 2010 Color of the Year: Turquoise!
This is my favorite color so I couldn't be happier!
I don't know what it is about this color that I love so much. Maybe because it reminds me of the ocean and soothes my soul.
On the Pantone website Leatrice Eiseman, the executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, says “It is believed to be a protective talisman, a color of deep compassion and healing, and a color of faith and truth, inspired by water and sky. Through years of color word-association studies, we also find that Turquoise represents an escape to many – taking them to a tropical paradise that is pleasant and inviting, even if only a fantasy.”

Here are a few of my favorite interiors decorated with the color turquoise:
